These are the branches of an unidentified bush that we saw growing at the edge of a brook.
I found the color of these branches to be quite striking because it made it stand out from the otherwise drab dead vegetation around it (although you can see some touches of green in the background).
A large aperture was chosen to obtain a shallow DoF, which helped to blur the background, thus emphasizing the branch in the forefront.
The original raw file was processed in Adobe Photoshop CS5 to correct the White Balance, to minimize color noise, and to add sharpening.
